Only about 36% of Medicare Advantage plans provide transportation benefits for medical use in 2024. That percentage is higher (88%) for Special Needs Plans (SNPs). Humana provides transportation coverage in some of their Medicare Advantage plans.
While the perk is useful, there are certain rules around using Humana transportation benefits. Humana may put limits on how many miles are covered, which transportation vendors you can use, and round-trip use. There’s usually a yearly limit to the number of miles Humana Medicare Advantage plans provide for transportation benefits. Transportation benefits also only cover one-way trips.
Locations for transportation coverage must be pre-approved, and members typically have to use a Humana-approved transportation vendor.
Transportation coverage is an additional benefit that’s included in some Medicare Advantage plans.
